It was a nearly perfect day on Boston Harbor on the day of the swim. The air was warm and clear. The water was mild, hovering between 66 and 67 degrees during the swim. Most swimmers reported water "warmer" than expected. Though official Logan Airport reports show "mostly cloudy" all morning, there was plenty of sun. The water conditions were somewhat "lumpy" at the start of the race, but became flatter as the race continued. For the last two miles, there was some boat wake from recreational boaters in Dorchester Bay, but the early hour kept this to a relatively low volume. Overall, the water conditions were excellent.
