DIVISIONS Male and Female divisions. All ages are as of June 7, 2002.
JuniorAthletes Age 10 to 13*
ScholasticAthletes Age 14 to 16
OpenAthletes Age 17 and older
* Ten-year-olds are not eligible to swim the 800 free.
ELIGIBILITY All athletes must meet one of the requirements listed on page 4 of the 2002 Bay State Games entry booklet
FORMAT Athletes must attend a regional qualifier. Events at the regional qualifier meets will be timed finals. The top 4 finishers at each regional qualifier, in each division and event, advance to the Finals at Harvard University, July 12-14, 2002. At the finals at Harvard, competition will be preliminaries and finals, with the top eight in morning preliminaries in each event advancing to evening finals. The 400 IM, 400 Freestyle and 800 Freestyle at the Finals at Harvard will be timed finals.
COURSE All qualifying races will be in short course yards (25-yard course). Finals will be in long course meters (50-meter course). Seeding for the finals will be based on times achieved at the qualifiers. Event Codes listed below are in meters. The 400 freestyle will be a 500 freestyle at the qualifiers. The 800 freestyle will be a 1000 freestyle at the qualifiers.
RULES Athletes may enter a maximum of 4 events. No membership in any organization is required. U.S. Swimming Rules will apply to the qualifiers and finals. U.S. Swimming certified officials will be used at all meets.
ENTRY FEE Tryout fee: $15.00
Finalist fee: $20.00 (for those who qualify)
EVENT CODES Open to all divisions. Listed below are all events offered. Athletes will sugn in for specific events on the day of their qualifier. Athletes may enter a maximum of four events.
